Final Notice

If you decide to stop bringing your child to my day home, I require four weeks (plus any scheduled vacation time within that four weeks) notice to give us some time to fill your child’s spot.  It takes time to advertise, interview and select the appropriate family for an opening. If I can no longer provide care for your child, I will give you four weeks notice but, if possible, I will try to give you more because we understand it is not easy to find childcare.

Admissions

When we meet to consider having your child join my family daycare, we’ll share details with you about our daily schedule, methods of discipline, plans for naps and meals, weekly projects and organized playtime. We’ll ask for your input in regards to your child’s preferences, personality and current schedule so that we can plan the best way to integrate your child into the group.  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have in regards to any aspect of our daycare.

We do not discriminate in admissions based on race, creed, color, religion, sex or national origin.  We do, however, recognize that not every child will fit comfortably into our child care family.  For this reason, every new child begins on a four week trial basis.  During this four week period, the parents or the provider are allowed to give a one day notice to terminate care on the basis of not being a “good match.”  After the trial period, a four week notice is required for either party to terminate care.  If you decide not to use that last four weeks of care, you are still required to pay the fee.

Records

We will provide you with the appropriate forms and ask that they be returned on or before the first day of care. Also a photocopy of your child’s health care card is required. Please notify us of any updates as they occur. We are also required by law to report any suspected cases of child abuse to Social Services. This includes physical, emotional  and sexual abuse, as well as neglect.

Sickly Gigglers

Our staff includes a nurse who is on premises daily.

Children with mild colds or allergies are welcome but please be considerate to the other children in our home and of ourselves. Do not bring them to the day home if they have any of the following conditions: Fever, Pink eye or eye colds, The flu, Unusual rashes, Severe cough, Rapid or laboured breathing, Severe colds, Vomiting, Yellowish skin or eyes, Diarrhoea, Head lice, Contagious viruses (chicken pox, mumps etc.)

To protect the health of other children in the day home, we can not accept a child for care if any of the above symptoms are present or have been present within the last 24 hours. If you are uncertain, please call us about your child's health to avoid being turned away at the door. If the child shows any of the symptoms listed above while in our care, we will phone you to discuss whether they should be taken home. The child may return 24 hours after a temperature has returned to normal, 24 hours after a child has stopped vomiting, or 24 to 48 hours (depending on the illness) after the first dose of an antibiotic. If a child receives an antibiotic for an ear infection he may return immediately if he has been free of other symptoms mentioned above for at least 24 hours. If you have school aged children, please let us know if a head lice advisory has been sent home with your child. Sometimes a child may not be that sick, but experiencing high irritability, and neediness, and overall miserable feeling. Should this occur while at the day home, you will be notified and we'll discuss the best course of action to keep your little one as comfortable as possible.

Fees & Spaces

Late pick-ups (after your scheduled time) are $1 per minute. Fees are due by the last Friday of the previous month for which care will be given, which means you pay for care before you receive it and receipts will be provided. I accept payment by cash or email money transfer. Due to limited spaces available, monthly payments are based on using or holding your child’s spot, not on your child’s attendance. No refunds will be given for late arrivals/early departures, parental/provider vacations or exclusion to illness. You must pay for your child’s scheduled time – regardless of whether or not your child is here. Those days and times are reserved for your child. This is to protect me as the provider in the case of unexpected departures, or non payment. A space is not considered held until all forms are returned with the payment for the first month of care.

If there is an immediate opening available, but care is needed at a later date, there will be a holding fee  to ensure the opening will be filled.  For example, if the opening is available as of January 1st, but care is needed for February 1st, a non-refundable holding fee of half your monthly rate will apply for each month the spot is held.  A receipt will be issued. If for any reason, you don't take the opening, the holding fee is not refunded. I would have likely filled that opening with another child had it not been held.  If circumstances arise that I am no longer able to provide care, the parents will be reimbursed for the full amount paid and given as much notice as possible.
